How can I import and export MBOX files in Thunderbird?
Hi all, How can I import and export MBOX files in Thunderbird?
I tried to install the add-on "ImportExportTools" but it appears that it is no longer recognized by Thunderbird, at least not the most current build.
Being that that is the case, there no longer appears to be any official method of handling MBOX files via Thunderbird, which is weird given that Thunderbird itself advertises that it's method of storage for email folders is also MBOX files. It seems self-evident that Thunderbird ought to natively support a file format for import and export that it itself uses internally
If you are aware of a solution that does not rely on traditionally unreliable third-party conversion utilities, please let me know.

Hi there and thanks. I had it on 45.2.0.
I did manage to get it to work, but only by searching available add-ons and following a query of "import export tools" to the "see all results" function which only then produced a hit for the plugin in question and showed a button to install it.
The installers hosted on the third party's site did not work, nor did their instructions to use the "install from file" option. work, which prompted the creation of this ticket.
I have since been able to get it installed properly where it works great.
I hope they make this a regular feature. I plan to advertise this as a best practice to my organization, in conjunction with Google Takeout, when handling mbox files in Windows OS.
Thanks again, Kevin

Is there any way to import mbox files without special add-ons?
