I download a file it outright changes the name of the file. if I go to google images and want to send someone a birthday messages, I search happy birthday. I find an image named happy_birthday.jpg. I will right click, select save as and when the save as pop up box comes up it changes the file name to something like t7_6q584.jpg (example). How do I change / remove this so it saves the file as the original name automatically? I looked through as many setting as I could find and saw nothing about file name changes, more of location of files and what to do with X file, but nothing about the name.

This is the one new update / feature of Firefox I really don't like.

Hey FredMcD, thanks for the suggestion. I am having the same issue on my windows 10 machine as well. Same thing, when I click save image as it changes the file name.

I tried your suggestion as just using save as but there is no save as option. My options are, save image as, copy image, email image, view image info ... etc.

Thanks again,

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?
