scroll on mouse no longer functions in Thunderbird or Firefox. When composing mail, all the words are underlined with red dots. This just started and i think it was after an update.

Checked mouse operation in another program, works fine and no red dots under words.

Chosen solution

fixed the problem. Closed everything and Hard started mac in Safe and went from there. Still no idea why this happened.
