There are messages on my server, but I cannot receive them in Thunderbird

I do get pop-ups for incoming messages, but nothing is shown in my inbox. Only after closing and reopening Thunderbird I will get the messages in my inbox.

This happens on my Mac, on my (Windows) computer and on my (Android) tablet.

I've seen two other people mention such a thing. Never got to the bottom of it.

Start Thunderbird in safe mode https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode

Does problem go away??

Starting in safe mode does not solve the problem as it is the same as close and restart in normal mode like I did before.

Another curious thing is that my partner, who has his own mailbox, receives his messages without a problem. However, if he sends me a test message from his account, it shows MY name as sender in my mailbox and his e-mail address in the message itself.
