Think I have Bug 1357436; would like to install earlier version 52.0b4
When MS exchange server password changed, could no longer log in with old password. Thunderbird did not give me a chance to enter the new password; skipped over the entry window and tried something then came back saying the password was again no good.

Did you delete the old password before trying to enter the new one?

Do you have FIPS enabled?
When MS exchange server password changed, could no longer log in with old password.
I guess that's what's expected when you told Thunderbird to remember your password.
Thunderbird did not give me a chance to enter the new password;
Thunderbird would prompt you for a password in case it's needed. If you don't get a password prompt, you may have a network problem, and Thunderbird may not be able to reach the server. You'd need to fix this first.
skipped over the entry window
What is the 'entry window'?
and tried something
Tried what?
then came back saying the password was again no good.
What is the exact error message?

This bug was about password problems with the outgoing server. You haven't mentioned anything about problems with sending mail.

Thanks to you both, your responsiveness is stunning.
Thunderbird appears to be buggy since it did not allow me to first delete my user password for the account. In the past, when the PW did not work, I was presented with a window asking for the new PW which I entered and saved for future use. This time around, I was not presented with the window to enter the new PW.
When trying to first delete the saved passwords under preferences, no PWs or accounts were listed.
I noticed in a reference that if I reset my master password via the Error Console and the below command, then ALL personal PWs/CERTs are wiped. Doing this fixed my problem, gave me a window to enter my new password and life is good again. Some user friendly fixes are needed. I would not have fixed this without your suggestions (I had walked away from thunderbird for the last month to use the corporate mandated outlook but was driven back to try thunderbird one-last-time by the pain. 2017 and still playing whac-a-mole.
