NOTHING WORKS! 1.) I keep getting messages saying "Update Your Browser Sorry, you’re using an older browser that isn’t supported" I even get this on the Mozilla page. 2.) I can no longer use Netflix on Firefox. I get a request to install the Silverlight plug-in. And PLEASE don't tell me to 'refresh Firefox.' I am TIRED of having to start all over again. It is such a hassle I am very seriously considering switching browsers even though I have been a loyal Mozilla supporter for over 8 years. I am TIRED of them 'fixing' things to only make them dysfunctional.

Hi, I can confirm you are using the latest version 53.0.3

I'm not going to suggest Refresh! But please try Firefox Safe Mode as a test, to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem. Thank you!

So basically I either have to refresh and spend an hour customizing Firefox all over again, or disable addons and spend 2 hours opening and closing firefox. enabling/disabling addons, and logging into Netflix each time to see if it works.... I used Firefox for 8 years the same way and it ALWAYS WORKED!!! But you people keep having to 'fix' things that are not broken. Now you expect ME to have to spend hours trying to troubleshoot YOUR browser. Meanwhile, it only takes 30 seconds to download Chrome, and it WORKS! Too bad! I really liked Firefox.
