My thunderbird was working, then suddenly it is hung up. Cannot download new messages. The busy circle indicator in the upper left of the screen just keeps turning. Using version 52.1.1. Windows 10. Using IMAP on gmail.

can you access your account on gmail?

have you done their security checkup thing. they turn of the option for less secure apps on their site when you do, unless you are wise to them, and then your mail client stops working.

Did you create two factor authentication with them? Did you also create the required application password?
