I have bought new computer and want to copy the bookmarks over to it
How do I copy and paste json file of bookmarks from removable pen drive to transfer them from an old computer to a new one?
Chosen solution
Hi, plug a USB flash drive into your old machine, then in Firefox, open bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import and Backup > Export Bookmarks to HTML. Or > Backup (JSON file), but note that Backup will overwrite any existing bookmarks when you restore them. Now save to the flash drive.
You can now plug the flash drive into your new machine and open bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import and Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML. Or > Restore (from Backup), and navigate to the flash drive.
More: Import data from another browser.

I have imported the bookmarks several times and they now show several time when i open bookmarks but they do not appear on my tool bar,
Now I have to clear the repeated copies and still want the bookmarks to appear on my tol bar
I have solved this I had actually succesfully carried out the Import but as I was unfamiliar with the Bookmarks Toolbar Menu and Recently visited especially with the arrows to expand and hide I did not find them at first Thanks for the reply Very encouraging to have support Regards
Hi HowieE
Make sure toolbars like the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible. Open the Customize window and set what toolbars (Show/Hide Toolbars) and toolbar items to display.
- Right-click empty toolbar area -> Customize
- "3-bar" menu button -> Customize
- View -> Toolbars
*you can tap the Alt key or press the F10 key to show the hidden Menu Bar temporarily
- check that "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
- if "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize palette to the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
- if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window to the toolbar
- if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button in the Customize palette window to restore the default toolbar set.

I am sorry but I could not follow your instructions. I was able to open customization and dragged the bookmark icon into the 3 line folder but that was it. When I first opened FF after loading my data from the old computer I transferred the bookmarks several times and they repeatedly showed in a list in the upper right corner of the page next to the download icon. That icon is now gone and I have no idea if the bookmarks are still stored on the computer or not.
I am not getting notification of your answer and just stumbled across it.
