I don't understand the help information, which only seems to refer to third-party toolbars. I find the toolbar very distracting when looking at another page. Is there anything I can do?

These instructions apply to the open areas to either side of the URL bar.

Use this article to customize the toolbar. After the customization page opens you can remove icons from the toolbar by clicking on them and dragging them down to the area where the others are.

Is this about the Bookmarks Toolbar?

Open the Customize window and set what toolbars (Show/Hide Toolbars) and toolbar items to display.

  • Right-click empty toolbar area -> Customize
  • "3-bar" menu button -> Customize
  • View -> Toolbars
    *you can tap the Alt key or press the F10 key to show the hidden Menu Bar temporarily
