Say I'm browsing reddit videos and decide to click on a link that takes me to youtube.com rather than watching the video embedded on reddit. It opens up youtube and I click fullscreen. The video starts playing in fullscreen but almost immediately exits fullscreen. If I click fullscreen again it stays. If I watch the video embedded on reddit.com, the video stays fullscreen. I'm assuming that when the youtube page finishes loading it triggers an exit fullscreen. Since r/videos is already loaded, there's no problem with watching the embedded videos in fullscreen. For whatever reason it's really easy for me to click the fullscreen button in youtube before the rest of the page loads. When it is finished loading it exits fullscreen. It's very annoying and it started happening an estimated 6 months ago. Tried refreshing firefox and have experienced it on multiple machines. Chrome does not have this problem.

Hello, click on the youtube menu, then click on Restore Old Youtube. For some reason the problem only exists on the new Youtube interface.

Thanks I guess that is a workaround, but this problem doesn't happen in Chrome so it seems like "new" youtube in Firefox is and has been broken.

Sorry but the answer provided doesn't solve the issue but is a workaround to a current problem. Is there anyway to make Firefox behave correctly with the "new" youtube? If not then the issue isn't resolved at all.

Seems google doesn't have the problem with their web browser so I'm pretty sure google won't be the ones "fixing" anything.

After disabling the full screen message is also this problem resolved (on my PC)

Are there more entries that need to be modified in the about:config? Setting the two that are mentioned in the screenshot doesn't resolve this issue. The notification for fullscreen goes away quickly now that the setting is set to 250ms, but the video still closes fullscreen after the "new" youtube's page is fully loaded.

Actually just noticed that this problem does occur on chrome as well. Marking MkII's answer as it's most likely an issue with google.

Sorry, my first 'solution' (disabling full screen message) doesn't work.

If I start start YouTube (https://www.youtube.com) and stay there, using the YouTube recommendations, no problems. Only every time I go to a specific YouTube site, using bookmarks, the problem appears.

This has confused me.

Moreover, the speed of the PC is quite important.
