Find a bookmark, then find it's folder
There were a couple of great add ons for firefox before the big change which I used regularly to find the parent folder of a bookmark. I'd search for a bookmark using the ff search bookmarks feature, and a right click exposed the add on action of go to parent folder. Those add ons are dead as a doornail now. I do miss the functionality. Is there any other way to discover the parent folder of a bookmark after discovering the bookmark via search?

Do you normally see the star on the at the right end of the location/address bar in the page actions area because that is where it appears in Firefox 57?
If you can't find the star then click the tree dot page actions button at the at the right end of the location bar.
You can right-click an item in the "Page actions" drop-down list to add its button to the location/address bar for easy access.

The only way I know to find in what folder a bookmark you found via a search is located is to use the "Edit This bookmark" dialog that opens via the highlighted star on the Navigation Toolbar. To have the star showing you need to open the bookmark in a tab, possibly in offline mode. Then you can click the arrow at the far right on the folder line to open the full folder list and check what folder is highlighted if the folder name that is shown isn't sufficient.
Thanks again cor-el. I can't find the path that you suggest.
Find via search bookmark in the nav bar - yes I then open the bookmark in a new tab; no star appears. I've tried online and offline.
The info is there in firefox; it would be handy if there was some simple way to expose it. The method you suggest might be enough if I was able to follow it.

Oh - that star. Yes I see it...and very cool it does expose the edit this bookmark dialog, which shows the containing folder. This is a very practical solution - much appreciated!
You're welcome.
I also have this issue and while the "click the star"-solution works, it is pretty unwieldy.
There seems to be a lot of people who would like to get some kind of "Find bookmark folder" feature, over 2 500 people viewed another thread about it last year.

Amazing, big thanks for the tip! It's finally a replacement for the "Go Parent Folder" extension. :D
Great to see some niche WebExtensions addons being developed to fill the feature gaps left after the abandonment of the XUL addons. This one seems to have premiered just a couple of months ago, in March 2018.

For some reason, it takes ages for Bookmark search plus 2 to load in my case. But I have found another addon, that has same functionality with a slight different interface, and it works faster, so as an alternative we can use: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bookmarks-manager-and-viewer/
