How can I change the default setting for columns to avoid annoying changes your default settings.
I do not like the default settings for the mail columns. I want to change the default settings to what I prefer. Is this possible? If yes, how can I make the change so that it is a permanent default setting until I may want to change? Thanks.

I think all your column desires are available except attachment. I do not remember seeing that one and I am on an Android device so I cannot check.
Just tell CCleaner to leave Thunderbird alone. You can still run it on other files if you wish.

Change them in what way?
Which ones are displayed? Click the icon at the far right end of the header bar and take your pick.
Column width? Click an edge of the column header and drag.
The order the columns are in? Click a header, hold and drag.
Thunderbird opens just like you closed it unless you run a cleaner program like CCleaner that erases your setting because it thinks it knows better.
Displayed columns that I prefer are: attachments, subject, date, from, recipient and size.
Your point about CCleaner is good advice. If that is the reason my settings are changed to default, I will remove CCleaner.
It is too bad that a user can't change the default settings to where it would be what the user prefers as the standard or default for the columns..
