Hi - i recently installed Thunderbird on my Mac 10.10.5. I wanted to use my gmail account, so went through the setup process and confirmations with google etc. All appears fine and i can receive test emails to my inbox - but i cant send anything. There are no error codes or messages - the Send button just does not do anything. Ive tried changing various ports and security settings but nothing seems to work....

the outgoing setup defaults were:

Google Mail

smtp.gmail.com

Port: 587

STARTTLS

Normal password

(myemail)@gmail.com

Any help greatly appreciated!

Have set up a gmail IMAP mail account? Did it set up to auto use OAuth2 for connection security? You say 'and confirmations with google etc', so it sounds like you set this up, but your Outgoing Server settings do not use it.

Check your saved passwords to see if there is an oauth:// setting. Menu icon > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Security' > 'Passwords' tab click on 'Saved Passwords' You should see three lines that relate to gmail and they start like the following:

If you see an oauth line then look at the image below which shows my gmail settings for imap using OAuth2.

Have you subscribed to see the gmail imap 'Sent' folder?
