The hard drive my firefox browser was on became corrupted and I can access nothing that was on it. I downloaded and installed firefox to another hard drive. None of the "restore" dates for my bookmarks will work. I think my back up file of the bookmarks was on the same hardrive that is corrupted. Is there any way to recover my bookmarks?

Hi Brokennock, when you installed Firefox on the other hard drive, did you restore some data from the corrupted drive? Otherwise, I'm not sure where Firefox would have found any backups to display on the Restore menu.

Did you ever set up the Sync service in your Firefox before? While Sync is not reliable as a backup, it would be worth a try if you were using it.

The System Details list shows an old Firefox 49 version.

  • User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:49.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/49.0

What Firefox version were you using before?

If you previously used a newer Firefox version (current is 61.0.1) then the files you try to use might not be compatible with this older release.

You can find the full version of the current Firefox release (61.0.1) in all languages and all operating systems here:

My computer won't even recognize that the corrupt hard drive is there. So, no way to get anything from it. It is a portable hard drive, the compute repair guy said that the "partition" (or something to that effect, I'm not all that tech savvy) is missing or corrupted.

I have not been using "sync" but may try it after this.

I really don't remember which version of Firefox I had when things went wrong. I thought I had updated it fairly recently.

Thanks for the replys thusfar.
