old emails lost when server settings adjusted...
I verified that the email archive folder existed for the account prior to making server setting changes, now the old emails are GONE. Kinda need those back

Was that an IMAP-connected account?
Had you asked, you'd have been advised to set up a new account rather than adjust an existing account.
So, the clue is restore the original settings. If they're still on the server, your old messages will re-appear. And then set up the new account as a separate account in Thunderbird.
Then move those messages into the Local Folders account, or into your new account.
