Where did my local folders go after reinstalling Windows 10 & Firefox?
I've reinstalled Windows 10 and therefore had to reinstall Firefox. None of my local folders are visible, just 25 emails in my Inbox. How do I recover my Sent emails and other folders?
Chosen solution
Did you backup your Thunderbird profile before reinstalling Windows 10? Typically it would have been in this location: C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<Profile name>\ Backing up / copying the 'Thunderbird' folder would have saved everything.
If no: Do you see a 'windows.old' folder on the desktop? If yes, does it have that 'Thunderbird' folder in it?
You may need to make hidden files and folders visible: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
If yes. Copy that 'backup 'Thunderbird ' folder.
Exit Thunderbird if it is running. Locate the 'Roaming' folder on computer:
- C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming
delete the Thunderbird folder that is in the 'Roaming' folder. Then, in the 'Roaming' folder, right click and paste the copied backup of 'Thunderbird' folder.
Start Thunderbird.

You posted in the Firefox support fora queue. Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail" such as Yahoo!Mail or Gmail. You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Thunderbird, let us know and we can move this thread to the Thunderbird support queue.

Please move my query to the correct (Thunderbird) support queue.
I use Thunderbird email client, not a browser, but I'm having a bad day!
Thanks,
Adam.

Sorry, just realized this duplicates part of the above.
Hi Adam, some styles of Windows 10 reinstall/refresh move your old data here:
C:\Windows.old\
Before proceeding, please set Windows to show you hidden files and folders: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files
Then check here:
C:\Windows.old\Users\your-use-name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles
Can you find that folder?
If you have a profile folder there, and it has recently updated contents, then you should be on track toward finding your old mail folders.

Thanks, Toad-Hall. Copying C:\Windows.old\Users\(Me)\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird to C:\Users\(Me)\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird has restored my local folders and address book.
