We are considering deploying Firefox as our default browser throughout the school, however, our current browser (Chrome) allows users preferences (bookmarks) to be saved to a network location, allowing staff to access their bookmarks on any computer.

Is it possible to configure Firefox to save bookmarks to a network location?

We currently don't have a way to do this. We're investigating it.
