How to multi-select (multi-mark; multi-highlight) bookmarks and drag them to a new location?

For organizing bookmarks, I want to multi-select (multi-mark; multi-highlight) bookmarks to drag them to new locations, just like dragging multiple items on a Windows desktop. But I only know there are "select all" and "select (individually)" options. How do I select multiple items?

Chosen solution

Does Shift + Cursor Down fail as well to select multiple items ?

Note that you need to select the first item with a left-click and use the scroll wheel or drag the scroll bar thumb the reach the last position and then hold Shift to mark the selection. If you use Ctrl or Shift to select or deselect a specific item then you can't use the keyboard to navigate as that will reset the selection.

That should still work when in the Library window, and you "mark" contiguous bookmarks in the right-hand pane to drag them all together into the left-hand pane.

If that's not what you are talking about please provide a greater explanation of what you want to do.

You can hold the Shift key to select a contiguous range. You can hold the Ctrl key to toggle the selection of an individual bookmark. If this is about moving a lot of bookmarks then using Cut and paste might be more reliable (safer).

It doesn't work unfortunately. I can only "mark" individual items. Thank you for your answer, the-edmeister.

Do you mean holding the keys while in the "Library" window? They don't work for me. Either option only marks one item highlighted in blue.

Thank you cor-el. Shift + Cursor Down worked, but Shift + Scroll Wheel failed.

You use the mouse scroll wheel to get the last bookmark into view once you have selected the first bookmark. Once you can see the last bookmark you want to include in the selection you can hold Shift and left-click this bookmark. That should select all the bookmarks from the first selected bookmark to the last selected bookmark that you click holding down Shift.
