Hello,

I had a problem with the deletionn of messages (the only thin that worked was drag-dropping the emails to the trash folder).

Now the problem is "fixed" but when I DEL an email it goes poof, it dissapears without even touching the trash folder.

This is quite risky since I don't have any way to see what I have deleted (ctr-z works but I don't know to what extend).

I have tried the "repair folder thing" but it does not fix anything.

There are some info on my machine: Windows10 Version 68.9.0 (32bit) Pop3

Do not ask a new question for this matter or start a new thread for the same. It will only make it harder for the good helping folks to track your problems.

That's a different problem, a new one, that's why I opened anew thread. One thing is not being able to delete and the ohter is deleted items not going into the trash folder.

They all cover deleting messages in Thundebird. If the other issue is resolved, then pick the solution in other thread.

My bad, I have marked it as solved now.

Still can't figure out why deleting the emails bypass the trash folder, I can drag&drop fine and the filters seem to be sending the spam there too.

Any clue?

It has to be one of two issues, the profile or the program itself. You could create a new profile using the profile manager and set up the POP account afresh. Change the server settings to download headers only (instead of full messages, which would take a lof of time), then see if delete works as expected. See Using Multiple Profiles

What do you have in Tools/Account Settings, Server Settings, for 'When I delete a message'?

I can't find that option. The only deletion related thing I can see is one about deleting the mails after X days or after a certain milestone is reached.

re :What do you have in Tools/Account Settings, Server Settings, for 'When I delete a message'?

Don't worry, that option is only available to Imap accounts. The issue is with a POP account which does not have that option.

Check contents of pop mail account in profile folders.

In Thunderbird

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • click on 'Open Folder ' button
  • Click on 'Mail' folder
  • Click on 'pop account name' folder

Make sure you have:

  • the view set to details and shows all file extensions.
  • Column headers for 'name', 'date modified', Size' and 'Type'

then post an image into this forum.
