Restore FF to my settings
I was on the internet, things going fine, left for a couple minutes, when I came back had a blue screen. Nothing worked but the cursor. Turned computer off/on with power switch, restarted FF but my settings had been changed. Put them back to what I want except for the search bar. It is now beside the address bar not where I want it - below the address bar and all the way across the window. How do I get the search bar under the address bar? I have already looked through all of the Options and Customize, maybe I missed it, so be specific. Thank you, Bernadine

OK, I have the search bar on the bookmarks toolbar below the address bar on the left side where I want it. But all of the other links are there too, how do I take them off the bookmarks toolbar without deleting them from the drop down menu Bookmarks > bookmarks toolbar? .....taking a chance..... Yes!... Went to the customize again, put the search under the address bar on the left side, then I took the bookmarks toolbar icon off of the right side, held my breath and clicked done and everything was back where I want it. And checked the dropdown bookmarks toolbar and the links were still there! Success. Going to write this all down just in case. Thanks, Bernadine

Hi Bernadine, there isn't a way to move the Search bar under the address bar with both of them on the main toolbar, but you could move the Search bar to the Bookmarks Toolbar. Maybe you had it set up that way before?
Hi, I don't know how I had the search bar under the address bar it's been there for as long as I've used FF - many, many years. I don't think they were both on the main toolbar at the same time. I use the bookmarks toolbar in the drop down menu under bookmarks for all of the website links that I go to on a regular basis. How would I move the search bar to the bookmarks toolbar and have only it and not the others bookmarks on the bookmarks toolbar showing under the address bar? I hope that makes sense, I'm not always very good at explaining computer stuff. Thanks, Bernadine Oh and if I don't answer back right away, the wifi here is lousy at best and much of the time I can't get to my email or other websites.
Hi Bernadine, if you turn on the Bookmarks Toolbar, you can remove the bookmarks from the bar and put other buttons and controls on it. There is a "flexible space" available in Customize that might push the search bar over to the right side, I'm not sure, haven't tested that.
I think you are familiar with Customize already, but for the sake of completeness: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars
There's a Toolbars button at the bottom to turn on the Bookmarks Toolbar, then you can drag "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" back into the box with the unused buttons, and drag the Search bar from the main toolbar to the Bookmarks Toolbar.
Is that any closer to what you had before?

YEAH!!! Thanks, Bernadine and I'm going to make a special note of how to do this just in case it messes up again 20 years from now. Oh, I probably won't care by then I'd be 92.
