Can I backup and save an old email account that I want to close out?
I am closing out an old cable company account, but want to use Thunderbird to download and save my email from this account before closing it. Will closing this account (POP3), which would delete the emails from the host server, in any way affect my copy of those emails?
Once the account is cancelled, can I stop Thunderbird from trying to access the host server for email updates?
Am I correct in assuming I can't delete the non-existent email account from Thunderbird if I want to keep the emails from that account on my computer?
Thank you.

No.

Yes.

Incorrect. When you remove an account from Thunderbird, you get the option to also delete or not delete that account's message data. If you DON'T delete the message data, you'll keep its messages.
