FIrefox dialog boxes are in a non-roman script (maybe Turkish?)

When I updated to MacOS Monterey (ver. 12.4) all of the dialog boxes in Firefox changed to a non-Roman script. I don't have this problem with any other application. How do I change the dialogue boxes back to English?

I found one user who seems to have a similar problem (see text below) and have confirmed English is the only language selected under Preferences - General (see attached image). I have not downloaded any language packs in any language.

I use Firefox on mac OS 11.5.2 and the system language is English so is the main display language in Firefox (so I see File - Edit-View etc. on top in English) However whenever I try to print something or save a page the window that opens up is in Turkish. I tried to change this from preferences -> setting-> general -> language (which shows English US as default with Turkish as the second on the list) but the "remove" button is not active.

The info on Firefox Troubleshooting Information page is like this: (not sure if it is because of one of these)

Internationalization & Localization Application Settings Requested Locales ["en-US"] Available Locales ["en-US","tr"] App Locales ["en-US","tr"] Regional Preferences ["en-TR","tr-TR","el-TR"] Default Locale "tr" Operating System System Locales ["en-TR","tr-TR","el-TR"] Regional Preferences ["en-TR","tr-TR","el-TR"]

I also tried from Mac System Preferences -> Language&Region -> Apps I tried to add Firefox and select the language but language selection is not active (in gray "System Default-Turkish" is written and the message under that says Firefox doesn't support additional languages. For other apps like Word etc. system default language shows as English no problem.

I'm not sure which language you want to remove. Is Turkish the language you want to remove and you can't do this ?

If you can't remove a specific language then this means that you have installed this (Turkish) language as the Firefox locale and have added another (English) language by installing a language pack. You can only remove languages that are installed via a language pack, so if that is the language you want to keep then the need to install the English Firefox locale.

If the Firefox user interface (toolbars) is in the wrong language or if you want to change the current language then download Firefox in the language of your choice.

You can find the full installer of the current Firefox release (92.0.1) in all languages and all operating systems here:

From the info you posted I would assume that you get pages in Turkish. Any luck here?

You need to check the second language setting as the one your screenshot shows is for the language used in the user interface.

Thanks Cor-el,

Unfortunately when I checked the display language, as advised, it was set to English, so that was not the problem.

I've tried several times to attach an example of the foreign characters display but the comment form kept stalling. In that example the tab is in English ("Problem Loading Page") but the text uses non-roman characters.

Here's what is strange: If I paste the text into a document it is English, so it seems Firefox is transliterating the characters but not the actual words. In other words, the page is not written in another language, it is just replacing the English characters with equivalent non-roman characters.

You can try "Clear the startup cache..." via the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page.
