firefox tabs crash on kernel 6.0 (and following)
I have Firefox 107.0b5 (64-bits) Snap for Ubuntu canonical-002 - 1.0 I use Ubuntu Mainline to update to newer kernels. Never had any problem doing that. I am now on 5.19.15. But when I upgrade to kernel 6 (which is now at 6.0.5) Firefox tabs crash. Reloading doesn't help. Each new tab I open gives the same crash message. I have to restart to get Firefox going again. So I removed kernel 6 and reverted back to kernel 5.19 and have no problems any more. But question, what is the problem between kernel 6 and firefox? Does anybody else experience this problem?
I have no other problems with kernel 6 with other programs or hardware or whatever, only firefox tabs crash...
Chosen solution
Well, I gave it another go, updated to latest firefox snap (107.0b9) and kernel 6.0.6, but same problem. Tabs crash and no way to restore them. So, problem is not solved. Firefox (snap) and kernel 6 don't play nice. And I have no problems with other programs and kernel 6... But I'll mark it as fixed if you want, although for me it is not fixed at all... and hope someone will fix this in the future.

Oh snap... ;-/ Not running snap and have no kernel issues. see screenshot Try Firefox from Mozilla and see if you have the same issue. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/desktop/#beta

Maybe it is snap?
I installed firefox snap when updating to Ubuntu 22.04 and gnome extensions stopped working, and I read snap fixed that, which it did.
I've updated to Firefox 107.0b7 (still via snap) and installed kernel 6.0.6, but problem remains (see screenshot).
Maybe I should revert back from Firefox snap to regular Firefox, but I don't know how to do that, and wonder if my extensions would still work?

(Impressive machine you have there ;)
You should run both to compare. Did you run Firefox from Mozilla? Just download, unzip, and run firefox-bin. If you use sync, you can have your data in both browsers. see screenshot I run multiple versions of Firefox on all laptops so that my data is "backed up" in case an update goes BOOM.
Thanks, the machine was a open box on eBay at a great price compared to a new one. I always wanted an all AMD system. ;-)

Hi, thanks for your suggestion. I tried to download and install firefox deb next to snap and sync both, which worked, but gave me to many small hassles (layout, tabs on top, etc...) that I'd probably be able to figure out, but am not enough invested in to do so. So for the moment I'll stick with firefox snap and kernel 5.19.x and see if things get fixed in the future. Still, I find it strange that kernel 6 gives problems with firefox snap and kernel 5.19 doesn't. I have no idea why those two don't play nice together. I don't know who, but somebody should look into this...
Yes, my old ZBook 17 G2 cannot load the desktop since 6.0 came out and is the only one with issues. I'll probably go back to 5.19 soon. If you have no further questions please mark the issue as resolved.
