Well, my long response was trashed when the other copy of your message was locked. :-(

In brief, this forum focuses on end-user support. You can find more web development help on the mozillaZine Web Development board. Separate forum, separate registration. Please note the tips in the Sticky Post at the top of the forum before posting.

That said, you may need to change the content type sent in the headers preceding your VCS file. Firefox will attempt to display anything identified as text/html or text/plain. Your settings in Tools > Applications also influence how Firefox handles certain types of content.

To see what content type is currently being specified, right-click the link to your VCS file, and Copy Link Location. Then visit Rex Swain's HTTP Viewer page, paste the URL, and see what you get back.

Alternatively, if you have the Firebug or TamperData extension, you can use those to inspect to response headers.
