Hi, I'm finding simple animation in Firefox to be stilted, ie. the animation halts from time to time. I don't notice the same problem in IE8.

Example 1:

BBC Glow: I tried glow for a simple animation (You can try it too on the Demo section at the foot of: http://www.bbc.co.uk/glow/docs/1.7/furtherinfo/anim/)

Simply put in these values: Duration: 5 Property: left From: 0 To: 400 Tween: glow.tweens.easeBoth()

And hit animate. When I view this in IE8. Great. In FF 3.6.10 the animation is stilted not smooth. It also happens with linear tween which I would have thought less CPU intensive.

Example 2:

Simply visit : http://www.electricprism.com/aeron/slideshow/ and view the demonstration slideshow there. This uses a different library - mootools, but the same problem is noted in FF 3.6.10, not so in IE8.

It is possible that some cycle recollection process is interfering. I see it in Firefox 3.6.10 but not in the current Firefox (Minefield) 4.0 nightly build.

Not related to your question, but your above posted system details show two Flash outdated plugins.

  1. Shockwave Flash 10.1 r82
  2. Shockwave Flash 10.1 r53

Uninstall them both an update to the latest version

Update the Flash plugin to the latest version.

Update the Java plugin to the latest version.

Thanks cor-el. I'll get my flash plugins sorted out and see what happens. This isn't flash however.
