How can we enable Firefox 4.0.1 for FIPS. I could find an article for Firefox 3.x but the Firefox 4.x version presents more SSL configurations (on about:config) then specified in the article. After following the article specified for Firefox 3.x version the FIPS mode doesn't seem to be working.

Please suggest.

Thanks, Rahul

Click the Firefox button, go to Options | Options | Advanced | Encryption and then click the "Security Devices" button. You'll find it in the next menu.

Xircal,

Thanks for your response.

I have already followed this procedure but Firefox is still not able to connect to URL for FIPS enabled application. However, using Internet explorer works without any issue.

In the article posted for Firefox 3.x there are some configuration specified to be made in the Firefox about:config section. I have made those changes but still the behavior of Firefox remains same.

I noticed that the SSL configurations available under about:config section are more than those specified in the Firefox article for enabling FIPS. I assumed the settings specified were for Firefox 3.x version and am looking an updated article or setting information for the changes to be made in about:config for Firefox 4.0.1.

Please let me know if those settings needs to be manually updated or not. Also if these is an updated article/documentation specifying SSL settings to be updated.

Thanks, Rahul

Did you try to disable as much of the 128 bit ciphers as possible?
