It sounds as though you have testing with each of these programs in the Options dialog:

orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Applications, searching for mailto

If neither of those works, you could try clearing your settings on that tab. This article describes the steps: http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions#Resetting_download_actions

It sounds as though you have testing with each of these programs in the Options dialog:

orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Applications, searching for mailto

Firefox 5.0 Windows 7 Pro. Outlook 2010 Windows Live Mail 2011

In the article, only plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types was present. After resetting then closing Firefox, normal service was resumed.

Links now opening from Outlook 2010 and Windows Live Mail 2011.
