To remove ABP from the Firefox Tools menu, you can add 2 Custom Filters to ABP itself. Click ABP toolbar button > Filter Preferences > Custom Filters tab > Actions > Show/hide filters. Then in the right (Filter rules) panel click "Add Filter" and add these one at a time (new items added to the top but can be moved up or down with the Filter Actions button in the right (Filter rules) panel after entering them; I do not know if order is important):
- browser###abp-blockableitems
- browser###abp-menuitem
Be sure the items are checked under the "Enabled" column in the right (Filter rules) panel and be sure that "Exception Rules" is checked in the left panel. Both are required for the Custom filters to be enforced.
You can hide the right panel again by choosing Actions > Show/hide filters in the left panel. That is an on/off selection.
Note: On my system, in the filter rule (right) panel:
- checking the "Enabled" column for the items makes the filter effective immediately; ABP disappears from the Tools menu without a restart of Firefox and the item will remain invisible until the items are un-checked.
- un-checking the "Enabled" column for the items requires a Firefox exit and restart to make the ABP item reappear on the Tools menu and will remain visible on the Tools until the items are checked.

it didnt work
On Mac the menu bar is maintained by the Mac OS and not by Firefox and you may not be able to modify the Tools menu via userChrome.css and a filter rule in the Adblock Plus extension. So if you can't do this via the ABP Preferences then you are out of luck on Mac.
It does work. I have tested on my own system.
Did you follow the instructions exactly and check the items that I indicated?
Below is an image of what you should have in Custom Filters (the top 2 items apply to turning off ABP in the Tools menu; any other items that you have in Custom Filters will be/may be different). Note that the "Enabled" box is not checked on the image; must be checked if you want the rule enforced.
i have this, im not sure what else to do

Did you try:
- putting browser###abp-blockableitems first by highlighting it and use Filter actions > Move up?
- did you try exiting Firefox then restarting Firefox?
The comment made by cor-el may be true. I have inquired at ABP to see. Why: Because, if Mac controls the Menu Bar, how can ABP get added to the Tools menu when ABP is installed?
The menu bar is created on startup of Firefox and you can't modify that menu bar from within Firefox once the Firefox program is running like you can on other platforms (Windows and Linux).
i tried again, restarted, its still there
they gave me this on ABP forum, i have it checked, theres no save or whatever button, and that didnt take it off, he hasnt replied to that thread yet
Let's wait and let ABP reply to my query and see what they say.
