The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

im not going to restore to factory defaults because of this, i dont want to lose my tabs n such, is there another way of doing it? like in a about:config way?

Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

Make sure that you use the location bar and not the search bar.

Would this remove the drop down options when i type something, like if i typed deviantart in the url bar, would it still show where i have been on deviantart before?

You can try to set the Boolean pref browser.urlbar.autoFill to false on the about:config page to disable auto-fill in the location bar.

See "Prevent Firefox from automatically completing URLs":

i fixed it, it was similar to what you said cor-el except there was something interfering with it, facemoods or something i found on the computer, tied to search engien or something, with about config i removed it, keyword is enabled and keyword url has no value (i think i reset it) and seemed to have worked. Thanks for your contributions guys
