The update to 26 does not install, the box just stays up, how do I fix it?

I keep getting reminders to update to 26, I click on the update, and the dialog box icon continues without installing anything. I have a MacBook Pro with a 2.4 chip, and am running Mac OS 10.7.5. I also can't get new Flash player installed, and assume it's because Firefox is not updated.

Please try manually updating Firefox.
To do so, please download to most recent version from our website.

Do this fix the updating issue and the Flashplayer issue?
