I have a Buffalo NAS drive that you use a web browser to access it's interface. I can access it from Internet Explorer, but for some reason I can not access it from Firefox. The error I receive when I try to log into my NAS interface (with my password) is "user authentication failed". Not sure why Internet Explorer is able to get into the interface but Firefox is not. I hate Internet Explorer and really need to be able to access this NAS drive with Firefox. I have tried changing my cookie settings to see if that was an issue, but to no avail. Please help me with this unusual problem....

Thanks, James J Sr

Hi JamesJSir,

I found this to be as close as I could, however this is for a very outdated version of Firefox. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../711598

Please see if you can find specialized help in the support forums for the product http://www.buffalotech.com/support-and-downloads

I'm glad someone finally replied... I was beginning to wander if I was just stuck out.

The way I figured out this problem was with FF, I have 3 computers and it was working on the other 2 with no problems and they were sitting at ver 26 at the time. While tinkering with the laptop, it all of a sudden updated to ver 27 and then it would not access the NAS drive. Once I figured this out I went to the 3rd computer and locked the updater out so it would stay at ver 26. So my 1st computer and laptop are running ver 21 and everything is fine and the 3rd computer is running ver 26 with no problems.

What I did in the mean time was totally uninstall FF and used an older version (ver 21) that I had stored on my storage device for safe keeping. I installed it and immediately told it not to update so I would not wind back up to square one.

It's been almost 4 days and everything is good. I did not have a standalone version of FF 26 or I would have just backed up to the previous version to see what happened.

I don't like downloading FF from those different websites with older software in fear that they may have malware installed or attached.

When I get a chance, I'll create a restore on my computer(s) and give ver 27 a try and make the modifications indicated in the previous post you had with the much earlier FF.

What are the chances they will fix this problem with one of the later updates????

Thanks for the heads up and hopefully I can execute the fix you indicated. I'm not familiar with the proxy settings and such. all of that is usually done automatically and don;t have to worry about it...

Thanks, again....

After some exhaustive tinkering with the FF 27.01 version (some more), I did narrow it down to the Privacy Setting being changed to "Using custom settings for History" under tools/options/privacy.

I have always told it to NEVER accept 3rd party cookies and below that option is "Keep Until:" option and in the past I've always told it to "Ask me every time" so I didn't have to accept any more cookies than I absolutely have to.

I can change any option in the Custom History Setting "except" when I change the Keep Until: option to "Ask me every time" and that's when the access to the NAS Drive fails...

The IP address is already in the Show Cookies area. Hopefully this will give someone some ideas for this bug.

This is the same options I have always used and it worked perfectly until the ver 26.?? was updated to the ver 27. Again I have installed ver 21 (my latest full copy) back to the computer and everything works fine with the same setting that fail me on the new version

Thanks in advance...
