With at least 450mb free ram available, firefox would still reload (more frequently) and/or crash (sometimes) . My system is sony xperia z1 with android 4.3 build number: 14.2.A.1.136 thanks.

This sounds like https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=970096 which is fixed in the current beta.
