Thunderbird 24.5 for Windows appears to be incompatible with the add-on Provider for Google Calendar....can anyone else confirm or deny this?

Thunderbird automatically updated to version 24.5 for Windows. It repeatedly crashed. I uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Finally, by process of elimination, I discovered that the add-on "Provider for Google Calendar" is incompatible with the new version, leaving me no option that I know of to integrate Google calendar with Thunderbird. Has anyone else had a different (or similar) experience? Thanks!

The add on page shows a Provider version that is compatible to Thunderbird version 25. Maybe you need to upgrade the add on.

No, this version is the same one I have repeatedly tried to reinstall, and it continues to crash Thunderbird. I just downloaded and installed manually, and it crashed Thunderbird. THe problem began immediately after the update to version 24.5.0. This add-on appears incompatible with the new version. Can anyone say that it is working for them with the update to 24.5.0?

I suggest you discuss this with the add on author.

Does anyone know how to contact the author of this add-on? I can find contact info for him no where!

I don't have an answer for your question about Provider. But I don't have your problem since I use caldav and don't need any add-ons to sync the calendar.

I think I found a solution to this problen...so far so good: I went to All Programs and right-clicked on Mozilla Thunderbird. Then I chose "restore to previous versions." This gave me only one choice: a version from a restore point over a year ago! Nonetheless, I opted for this and voila! -- after 5 minutes of frenetic hard drive activity and non-responsiveness, everything is back and working beautifully, including this add-on, Provider for Google Calendar. Oddly, the "version" of Thunderbird still reads as 24.5. But I will be very cautious from now on about installing updates to Thunderbird, as this was a very hard lesson.

So now you have a less secure system. Good on Microsoft for ensuring everyone has to pay by installing such a terrible service. BTW it as often as not make the issues with Thunderbird worse not better. Your now out of band for updates, so how exactly will you update to the current secure version in future? Yes your software works, but your solution is far from optimal.

I do not see any crash reports! https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozilla-crash-reporter#w_viewing-crash-reports where we could look and see perhaps the cause.
