Disable/Bypass the "Mail Account Setup" wizard
How can I disable or bypass the "Mail Account Setup" wizard and just create a new account in the "Account Settings" panel? The "Mail Account Setup" wizard won't let me get that far without jumping through all its unhelpful hoops, and I don't know to disable or bypass it.

unhelpful hoops. Lets see entering your password? Nope you do that anyway. Entering your account settings. Wizard or account pane makes no difference you still have to add them.
I have been having people with almost the same question for years and I really totally fail to understand what they are on about. The wizard uses two pages, but there are no additional steps, unless you count checking if the account works. Please. Why would you want to create an account that does not work?
There is the point that you can not create an account in the wizard, but if you can not enter the correct setting there and get them to work. Another method of entering them is not going to make any difference.
"I have been having people with almost the same question for years"
Then obviously there's a need for it to actually be addressed. Right?
I (and apperently many other people as well) have a set of connection settings, all we want to do is enter them, but TBird keep trying to force us into handholding mode, autodetecting, etc. The thing won't even LET you enter the settings without forcing it's own autodetection routines first. And why force *everyone* (not just average Joes) to use a completely *separate* settings panel for new accounts when you ALREADY have an account settings panel? A panel which, I might add, is FAR more useful than the redundant "new account" one because it exposes all the account settings, not just a small subset.
Is it really that hard to let us non-dummies actually *just enter their settings*??? Especially when you fully admit you get a lot of people asking to *do just that*?
Why try to force "the Mozilla way" on all your users when Mozilla makes such enormous claims about supposedly beleiving so heavily in customization and personalization?
Frankly, you really don't have to userstand it at all. Obviously there *is* a need for it, otherwise you wouldn't be "having people with almost the same question for years". Doesn't that tell you something?

No there is no need for it to be addressed, there is a demand from a very small group who appear to think that entering things in a wizard is somehow inferior. It takes the wizard about 5 seconds to do it's probing before you get a chance to do a manual setup. If you don't want that, there are alternatives for business and corporate setups. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Thunderbird/Autoconfiguration that can also be used in an individual setup. You will note that they actually take longer for the initial use hence their intended business/ Multiple setups.
BTW.If you feel so strongly about it, please file a bug for your requested enhancement and post a link to it here so the others who think it needs to be addressed can find it and join you. Frankly I see no issue. But as I said your welcome to file a bug.

"...who appear to think that entering things in a wizard is somehow inferior."
That's how Mozilla views its users? Your attitude and judgment here is *entirely* inappropriate. It has been flagged.
Regardless, I followed the links to file an enhancement request. It appears the request has already been filed, but unfortunately it seems it's been sitting ignored for nearly a decade (8 full years as of this week): https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353838
If it seems to be a small number of users, I suspect it's because many have already noticed that Mozilla doesn't appear particularly interested in listening to user feedback. Your hostile attitudes here seem to confirm that.
