I have tested single emails to trash and empty and larger groups of email. In all cases after the trash is emptied the emails are still visible on my Xfinity comcast web application. I have multiple devices with different email applications and I don't want to see emails that have been deleted on those other devices.

I tried the filter route also but can't seem to set a filter status of trash to manually run a filter to remove from server as one article suggested.

Is this a comcast sync problem on their back end or am I doing something wrong?? Please and thank you for any advice.

Try compacting the folder just to see if that helps.
