I have visited several websites for Products or various Portfolios, that feature a side scrolling display of photos or images that scroll across the page side to side, stop for a few seconds then advance a new image, and so on.Many times I wish to spend more time looking at an image, but cannot find any visible way of pausing the scrolling that is programmed into the website.Clicking on the image has no effect, and right clicking brings out no controlling feature. There is no player visible on these pages.I am not talking about advertisements,I am talking about websites that display their own goods and services, but seem to provide no means to pause the scrolling for closer inspection. Is there a way to do this? Is there an add-on for this?

Hello,

from what I know I believe pausing it is not possible as it is added into the index.html, another feature to stopping it would be pausing your screen using Lightshot, it is made to take a screenshot of the area you select but pauses the screen at the same time!

Thank You.

Thank you for the help. Lightshot looks helpful, because I do take a fair amount of screenshots,I usually crop, edit, save or print them while in MS Paint.(using CTRL/prtsc)

I downloaded Lightshot, and hit the Lightshot icon while viewing one of the scrolling portfolios,I spoke of in the original post....and received an error message: Error:Lightshot could not take screenshot, try to reload browser...etc...Yes,I did this during one of the 3 second pauses.

I was able to take a screenshot with CTRL/prtsc and bring it into paint and view it.Needless to say this is a slow and tedious way to view a paused image.

Any ideas?

Update:after a computer Restart,I was able to get Lightshot to work on one of those scrolling image pages.Far from ideal, however,as it darkens the page and waits for you to crop/select the part of the page that you box-off,before it restores it to full brightness. Not much time savings to the Printscreen>MSpaint procedure I talk about above.

Sometimes you can stop the scrolling if you hover the mouse over that sliding content. Sometimes there is also a selection bar with thumbnails or links. Otherwise you could possibly toggle JavaScript off temporarily to pause the script.

Hi there,

you could either follow what cor-el said (I am not so good with javascript or stuff like that) but when using Lightshot you can use your mouse and select the area by clicking and holding which then lightens up that area of where you can take a screenshot of!

Thank You.

Toby,I tried again, and have found: If I click the Light shot icon, the page darkens and stops scrolling. Then if I right click and select "Select Full Screen",the page lights up again (and stays still). Then I can right click again and select "Cancel" and the page will return to normal scrolling again.

This is not perfect, but it is better.

Corel, yes many of these scrolling images must be associated with a player of some sort, and the mouse will introduce a means to control it,but I must be running into some occasionally where the scrolling is written into the code.Maybe at some point I can play with toggling Java on/off,to see if that is a solution.
