Sync''' An alternative is to use Firefox Sync. That should ensure both the laptop and Desktop have the same bookmarks. However if you do that backup your bookmarks manually before first Syncing bookmarks. I also strongly recommend if you Sync bookmarks that you make regular manual backups also, because Sync itself may occasionally corrupt and duplicate bookmarks.
