When I compose an email in Thunderbird, only a "To" field appears by default. How can I add a "Cc" and/or "Bcc", please? I have seen it alleged that these should already be visible, but in my case they are not. Thank you for your time, attention, and help!

The "To" is actually a drop-down menu which can be changed to either "Cc" or "Bcc". Generally I will have one email per box, and set each one individually.

Yes as said: >>a drop-down menu which can be changed to either "Cc" or "Bcc"<<

But although CC drops down you can still only select just the One email address unlike other Apps where you can enter multiple recipients. So are we saying we have to send a separate email for each intended recipient, surely not?

Hit enter after placing an address in a field and a new one magically appears. Thunderbird is designed for one address per field.

Better yet press F9 to turn on the Contact Pane in the Write window and select the contacts for the message and use one of the Send To buttons at the bottom. Hold control while clicking contacts to select more than one.
