firefox glitching with small black boxes covering screen or just an entire black screen bar the toolbar at the top

i'll be just scrolling along a site and my browser will either stop and bring up lots of little black boxes, or it just makes the entire screen black except the bar at the top with the minimize buttons. i've uninstalled and reinstalled and i've had this problem on my other browser, icedragon.

i have this to.. for me it seems to appear whenever theres tab overflow and the browsers sort of glitches into this blackness.. reinstalling does not solve any of it, doesnt seem like a extension/plugin problem either.. but when it does happen u can resize the window (windowed firefox will show the tabs and everything normally again) save the work and restart the browser
