Thunderbird is not retaining emails in the in box although appropriate box is checked to tell it to do so.
The appropriate box is also checked to have them retained when closing the program. When I close the program and reopen, all previous emails in the in box are gone.

Do you see these messages if you visit your email provider's website and log in to your account there?
