I had been working in email today, i went out and back in, and nothing is there now - it wants me to create a new account. No emails, no folders. i sent myself a test email and it appeared. Is it possible to recover my emails? Thank you

The only thing I can think is that i ran CCleaner - I have used it for years without problem. May be it deleted all my email files?
This is indeed caused by CCleaner, see here: https://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=48428&p=284171
You're messages are probably still there, only your settings are wrong. I'm not sure how you can solve this, if you don't have a backup though...
