That isn't a FF settings unless the user themselves changed it. One drive is a Microsoft product not a FF product so you need to look at what software you used that caused the change.
How do you mean what software i used? Its a windows 10 HP Pc using microsoft office? Does this mean that one drive is now a default location for downloads? If its is, then I have to say Chrome downloads dont go there which is odd isnt it?
Hi, something has changed the default download folder. We have no idea what did that to your system/Firefox. Mozilla certainly did not.
Have you gone into Options --> General --> Files & Applications --> Downloads and changed it to where you want it saved ? Does it revert back or not allow you to change it. If so see bottom.
Have you looked at your Microsoft Win 10 settings and looked for changes. What does it say for download for Edge or IE and where do they download files to. ?
What settings are in One Drive ?
- Repair System Registry and Files
Find the Dos Prompt or Powershell Right Click and Run as Administrator then : Copy/Paste to Dos Window : DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth then hit Enter. Reboot when completed. Note : DISM goes up to Microsoft for new ones.
Create a new profile as a TEST to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem. Never work with original files.

A very thorough reply - thanks I think. The issue for me is that I simply want to use a computer< im not a software engineer and wouldnt have the time or inclination or understanding to do any of what you suggest. I use a PC out of the box, i dont expect to have to fix it when i havent broken it.
I guess its a bit like buying a brand new car and having to get you spanners out and having to tamper with the engine before it can be used . Whats the point. Cars are reliable - they do pretty much what they're designed for. The same rule doesnt seem tpo apply to computers and IT in general - why is that? Many thanks
Hi, well the thing is Firefox does not hookup with One Drive by itself. Something has caused Firefox to have this issue. If You can find the program that made the changes great, but will still (I would think) have Firefox downloading into the wrong place and will still have to do the above fix directions. Or some variation of it.
Firefox is not the bad guy in this. It did not start this feud, it is stuck in the middle.
So I have given as clear and detailed info to fixing Firefox as I can. But you need to find the culprit that gave it the flu as it might do so again when fixed.
Will give you this one also, 7min fix : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.1 with a Full Version Installer
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
G'luck.
Note : if it puts it back to that download folder then it is something in the registry that was created by the other program that started the fight.
What is your current download folder on the Options page?
- Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
- Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
- Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
- Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it
Scroll down to the Files and Application section, where you'll find the Downloads settings:
[x] Save Files to ___Current_Folder___[Browse...] [_] Always ask you where to save files
This also is where you could change the folder or setting.
