a new tab opens with a search line but it goes to google.com but I want uk . I tried using add-in but this slows it down is there any other way to either make a new tab go to my home page or google.co.uk

The search bar in a Firefox new tab page should use your default search engine. To change your default search engine from .com to .co.uk you can install a new search plugin and make it your default. Mycroft has several to choose from, for example:

Hi, is it redirecting uk to .com ? If so it is nothing unusual as .ca is also going to .com But you are getting your UK results and if you go to the main page of google.com you will have a google UK Doodle in the top corner. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-set-the-home-page
So there is nothing you can do about it it is what google is now doing.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
Hi My home page is already set to google.co.uk but the new tab opens to google.com and gives US & UK results - I only want UK results. I have put a link to google on my toolbar but it is a nuisance as I forget, do a search and then realise from the results that it is not what I want. I tried an add-on that would reset the new tab to what I wanted but it slowed it down too much

If you want the 2nd tab to open after your home page and show the same address then in Home Page where you have google.co.uk now add a Vertical line ( | ) right after.uk then repeat google.co.uk right after with no spaces.
Do you use the en-GB Firefox version?

Hi Just checked by installling UK and it is the same - the 'search the web' field defaults to google.com but I want it to default to google.co.uk
Hi Thanks I used the link you sent to add google.co.uk to the search engine list and then made it my default search engine and this solved it
