You should talk to your email provider's support or check their support web site, and obtain the correct server settings for their email service. Then please post those settings here.

The setting are identical SMTP mail.madasafish.com SMTP ougoing port 587 SSL off for outgoing

Since cobtacting plusnet and downloading another email provider I realise that it is not Thunderbird that is at fault. Now having contacted Plusnet, I cannot access webmail never mind receiving emails through Thunderbird...gmail is fine-
