Multiple processes running when they shouldn't be!
I am tight for memory on my PC and have Firefox running a single process. I have made changes to the config (dom.ipc.processCount and remote.autostart), I have the content process limit set to one in the options and have the 'prevent accesibility services' box checked.
Yesterday 1 process, today 4 processes and my PC is currently using 99% of it's avaible CPU and memory - does anyone have any ideas why, and a fix for it?
Thanks

Hi Countbelisarius, Actually, 4-6 processes running is normal for Firefox at startup. Firefox has a built-in Safe Mode: Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode to help determine why you are using so much memory and CPU.
It is m6 understanding that setting processcount to 1 overrides this. But the essence of question is what changed overnight for Firefox to run multiple recesses and override the pricesscount value. Is there something else I need to change?
Firefox 68 doesn't have the option from Firefox 48-67 to disable multiprocess -- if they still appear in about:config they are ignored now.
I think the minimum number of processes in multiprocess Firefox is 2-4 processes (when you have reduced content processes to 1, see: Firefox's performance settings).
Here's an article on ghacks which might help: Multi-Process Firefox: everything you need to know
Can you expand memory in paging file or ready boost?
Hello Countbelisarius,
You can no longer disable e10s on the "about:config" page, but you can set an environment variable:
MOZ_FORCE_DISABLE_E10S - 1
