Updated Thunderbird, all accounts vanished after update from 68.0 to 68.1.1
After numerous popup notifications asking me to update Thunderbird, I updated from 68.0 to 68.1.1. Installation went flawlessly, but when I opened up the program, all of my accounts, folders, address book were gone. All I got was a window asking to set up a new or existing account. I tried going back to 68.0, but it would not open. Past updates have gone flawlessly, this is a disaster. Thanks for any advice.

Start Thunderbird with the -P option from the command line with the 'default' profile (not 'default-release'). Alternatively use the profile manager.
thunderbird.exe -P default

What profile is your Thunderbird using? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data#w_how-to-find-your-profile
Please post the name of the profile as well as the path to it.
Also please post whether help > about states 32-bit or 64-bit.
Thanks
full path is Desktop\DickSandy\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\
there are two profiles 6x5wguwu.default-release 9/29/2019 09:15 bh9yca5n.default 9/28/2019 19:46
I restarted Thunderbird at 0915 this morning, so I assume the active profile is the one with the most recent time stamp.
To answer another question from email (I can still get it on my phone), the current version is 68.1.1 (32-bit)
Thanks for helping with this. I have updated Thunderbird 15 or so times and it has always gone seamlessly. There must be something wrong with this release. I will check the profiles on my backup disk.

I checked the latest backup and the two profile filenames are the same as I reported above. Can I copy them into the current Profile directory?
Thanks again.
Aha!. I was able to use the profile manager to switch to the .default profile and it now seems to work.
Many thanks.
