All of the sudden today 12/10/19 cannot send out messages to stanford.edu, but can to gmail.
Can send and receive to gmail, can receive stanford.edu but not send out. Have been using for years, nothing has changed as far as I know. Error message 5.7.1 relay access denied.

Hello, thank you very kindly for taking the time to answer my query. Inexplicably it is now working today ok. I know it was the thunderbird program because I could send to my stanford account on my phone and on my stanford webmail, but not on my stanford account on thunderbird. So I don't know what happened with thunderbird yesterday, I haven't touched or changed anything, but it seems to have corrected itself. Thank you again for your time.

Sounds like you are sending using the wrong smtp for the email address. Please post info: In thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information Click on on 'Copy text to clipboard' Do Not select checkbox to 'include account name' In this forum, right click in a 'Post a Reply' text box and select 'Paste' All the 'Mail and News Account' section is required, but you can edit/remove everything else. Do not modify anything in the 'Mail and News Account' section.

re : Error message 5.7.1 relay access denied.
That error message was from the stanford server, so perhaps they had a temporary glitch on the smtp server.
