Firefox address bar.

more options

Hi, so recently, with firefox on windows 10 I haven't been able to use the address bar to access the list of sites which should be there that I visit every day.

Usually I just click in an empty address bar, and instantly the list of sites would just pop down from there, with highest frequency of visited sites at the top, down to other, less frequently visited addresses.

I'm not talking about top sites, like I can access in a blank tab if I activate that option. That was always where I pinned sites that were important for me to visit, but weren't as high frequency as email or facebook, which I would have at the top of the list of addresses in the address bar.

I can't seem to find the answer, but how do I get that to work again? Currently I can access top sites, which is really not what I want, as that is usually on a new blank tab if I choose to have that option chosen for there. Or I have access to history though only if I start typing in the address bar, which again, is not what I want.

Click and pop, and the list appears is all I want please.

Hi ruthcookie, yes, when you click in the search bar in Firefox 75+, before you type any text for Firefox to match, Firefox shows your first 8 Top Sites from the Firefox Home / new tab page.

Firefox 75-77 had a workaround to avoid using the Top Sites as your automatic drop-down list (to substitute the old list instead), but that doesn't work in Firefox 78.

To summon the classic frequently visited URLs list, you can type a space in the bar.

For a mouse-only solution, without flushing your current Top Sites, the closest you can get is to pin more URLs in the first row of the Top Sites section.

I realize that isn't a completely satisfactory solution. If you like, you could check out my extension which adds a button outside the address bar to show a similar frequently visited URLs list (not exactly the same as the classic list due to reasons I don't fully understand). I have info on its features and limitations on the Add-ons site:
