Get All New Messages -- feature stops working after a few minutes

I'm running Thunderbird 78.4.0 on Windows 7 (I just upgraded from the previous version after the problem started). I have a mixture of POP and IMAP accounts set up. Normally, when I select "Get All New Messages," my POP accounts (where I have already downloaded my email this session) would download All New Messages. I recently had to remove all of my aim.com IMAP accounts and re-add them to Thunderbird to reset the server specs so that I could download IMAP mail (aol/aim changed their server requirements and I had to do this, as per their instructions, to be able to download Aim IMAP mail onto my local disk). Now, after downloading my POP account mail, within a few minutes, Thunderbird asks for the password again, rather than just clicking "Get Messages" or "Get All New Messages." How do I get Thunderbird to download my messages like before without entering my password every time after the initial password submission for the session? Thank you.

Dear Wayne, et al.;
The problem started last night before I updated to TB 78.4.0. That's why I did the update -- I thought that it may solve the problem. My problem started when I was required by AIM/AOL to delete my IMAP accounts from TBird and re-add them to Thunderbird so that it would auto-configure them to download mail from their servers due to their new requirements. It's not that I can't get or send new messages. It's that my other POP email accounts require that I submit the passwords again once the IMAP accounts have been accessed. I rarely use the AIM IMAP accounts. I use the POP Gmail accounts all day long -- and I have 8 of them. It has become tedious to have to type in and submit the passwords every time I want to check my mail. Normally, once I've submitted my password, I'd get a notification when new mail is ready to be downloaded. Then I click "Get New Messages" or "Get All New Messages" and they are downloaded (assuming that I am still running the same Tbird session). I have the POP accounts set to "Check For New Messages every 10 minutes." That's why I get the notification and the accounts get highlighted in my account list. I also noticed that the outgoing server settings changed from Port 143 to Port 995 in the POP email account settings. I tried going back to Port 143, but that wouldn't allow Tbird to access the mail server, so, I changed it back to Port 995. By the way, the IMAP accounts use Port 993.
So, for the POP email accounts, If I manually type in the password after clicking "get Messages" I can receive and send POP email. I just now seem to have to do this every time once the IMAP accounts access their servers.
Perhaps I can restrict the IMAP accounts to only access their mail servers manually? How do I do this?
I do NOT want to check the "Use Password Manager to remember this password" box. If I leave my computer unattended, I can now exit TBird to protect my accounts. If I check the box, anyone who launches TB on my computer with be able to access and download/SEND mail from my email accounts.
So, any new advice? Thank you.
