How to open a page or link in a new tab adjacent to the original page
Many responses with instructions on how to open a link or page in a new tab end up with the new tab opening all the way at the end of the last tab in a window (with series of open tabs) open instead of adjacent to the page where you originally clicked on the link to open a new tab.
I cant say enough how annoying getting rid of this feature is. I have been using MS Edge as a result until I can figure out how to have tabs in Mozilla open right next to the page I was on previously and not after the final tab in the window I have open.

You can look at these two prefs on the about:config page.
- browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent = true
- browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent = true
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".
There are also open tab extensions that support this feature that you can search for on the https://addons.mozilla.org website.
The preferences aren't adequate if you want links from the same page to keep opening immediately to the right of the active tab. I use this add-on. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/open-tabs-next-to-current/
